What kind of SKS is the best for target shooting/minor hunting? I've been told the SKS isn't the most accurate rifle, and 3" groups with ironsights benched at 100 yards is pretty standard, is there any deviation between different national production standards? The reason behind getting this rifle is affordable centerfire target shooting and possible minor hunting. Therefore a bayonet isn't really required. Also, what happens if a restrictive gun law is enacted when the new president is elected? Comments are appreciated. Normal Center Fires from Rem. and Win. Cost atleast 3-5 times more $ than a Mil-Surp SKS, plus the ammo is atleast 5 times more $. I'm lookin for a cheap targeter, as I can use my uncle's Remington 700 series hunting rifles for actual hunting.
- neither is good, they are very inacurate, they were designed to spray bullets on full auto, and the barrel is to short, buy a winchester model 70 and be happy
- I have a Chinese SKS that has been modified and I love it. It is fun and inexpensive to shoot however most states ban FMJ ammo which is almost all you can find unless you reload your own. Also most states do not allow firearms for hunting that are capable of holding that many rounds. It isn't particularly accurate at shorter distances since the Chinese SKS (7.62 X 39mm) was a sniper rifle meant for accuracy at long ranges.
Affordable towns and living in Washington State? I am relocating to Washington in next few months,and need to know which towns are the most affordable to live . One that has easy access to transporatation and jobs for starting out, single so wont need much but prefer living in house setting rather then high rise,outside Seattle like everett or monroe??Need help and ideas..... Also is there any civic or social groups to help newbies in area ?? Will be traveling there in about a month to look things over.
- i did some research about this like a year ago...unfortunately i can't remember what cities i was looking at. any of the cities less than an hour from seattle are good.
- Anything near Seattle will be expensive. The further from the coast the cheaper it gets. Head toward Tacoma if you want the coast. Suburbs are pretty good. There is an army base nearby so there is lots to do. As you head out from the coast there are several small towns. The smaller they are the cheaper, and less work.
