Those who are looking for Blue Cross healthcare coverage can also contact Pitman Insurance ( Pitman is a Blue Cross licensed insurance agent who specializes in healthcare coverage in Orange County and surrounding California.

Searching for affordable family health insurance can be a long drawn out affair. Most agents normally represent a few of their most popular companies and market their products. Where that of course falls short is in truly getting a fair shake at finding the best buy for the money you're going to spend. Affordable family health care insurance requires some serious getting after on your part.

  • a list of texas companies that provide blue cross blue shield health insurance?   i am looking for a list of companies in texas that use bcbs of texas health insurance.
    • This type of list does not exist except in the marketing department of BCBSTX. You could hire a market survey company to call every company of a certain size and see if they are using BCBSTX.
  • About Health Insurance?   I just went for a job interview this morning, and it seemed to go well. When I was asked if I had any questions about the company, I inquired about their health plan. She turned a little red and said they offered Blue Cross Blue Shield (not uncommon in my region), but then went on to say "The company covers 60% and the employee, 40%). She went on to give an explanation about how BCBS charges the company based on the average age of all employees (which in this company's case, is about 45 or something). Anyway, my question is this: What do you think about that? 60 to 40 equation? I'm thinking that my 'out of pocket' (for family - my son and I) will be quite high, and my co pays at the doctor/dentist will be as well... Can anyone help please? Oh, I should maybe add (I don't know if it makes a difference) that I'm in the New England Region of the US.
    • Well, these days, health plans are just plain horrible. But not having insurance is alot worse I guess. Let's say the insurance is 0 a month - your employer would pay 0 and 0 would come out of your check, correct? Next, you should find out what (if any) the deductible would be. For example, there may be a 0 per person deductible per person. So that means you would have to pay this amount out of your own pocket before the insurance paid for anything. After you meet this deductible, the insurance pays a portion of the services, usually about 80%. So you would be responsible for the 20%. So, yes, the out of pocket expenses will be alot. Most people, unfortunatley, are in the same boat you are. At least, I am anyway. Good luck. If you have any more questions, update your question and I'll try my best to help you :)
    • I would highly recommend that you have a local INDEPENDENT agent, who represents many different companies, look into what it would cost for an individual plan. You will almost always save money that way, unless you are older than the average age of the other employees. You can follow this link, and someone local will give you quotes.
  • Why is buying individual health insurance for my spouse SO MUCH cheaper...   My husband is on probahtion period with his new job and I tried to enroll him under my health plan (Blue Cross) under my company... and it costs 490 A MONTH!! We checked out Blue Cross individual plan and it costs him 62 bucks a month with the same deductable! Why it is so much less to buy individually? WHY are people still enrolling their kids and spouse under their company if it cost so much? I heard 490 a month is pretty standard!? I am new to the working world, SO HELP ME UNDERSTAND THIS I appreciate this very much!!!!
    • It is about "Risk" as you know Insurance is a business "pure and simple". Your company has "Loaded" rates, this means that someone in your company probably has a health problem that has cost your companies plan to spend thousands if not millions in paying out claims. Every single policy has a "Ratio" or profit margin to it. What this means quite simply is that your companies plan is expensive because the fact that someone or several people are utilizing the plan. When you purchase Individual or Family plans, you are Underwritten Individually based on your medical condition. I will give you an example: a. Sarah aged 40 applies for health Insurance she takes no medication is 5ft 9inches tall weighs in at 140lbs, has no health conditions, and at her last physical the doctor gave her a perfect bill of health. She is offered a Tier 1 rate (lowest prices) b. James aged 40 applies for health Insurance he takes medication for High Blood pressure, is 6ft. 250lbs doctor said at his last physical that his cholesterol is too high and has prescripted a medication to lower it. He is offered tier 4 rates and is asked to pay 150% high premium than Sarah. c. Group Insurance: If I try to get my wife coverage in my group, the rates are based on the health condition of my group. We call it a RAF in the business "Rate Adjustment Factor" , this is based on claims usage throughout the previous year. I hope this helps to understand how it works.
    • I understand your problem. My husband was put in the hospital last year and had emergency surgery and I had past hips surgeys and they won't even give us insurance. I started researching some stuff and found a great site that offers health benefits. It's not insurance but you can save up to 80% on dental and medical benefits and you get free prescription, Free chiropractic and free vision. Best of all it no more than .00 dollars a month for the entire household. Good luck and I am sorry we all have to deal with the goverment doing this to our families.
