  • What is the best Health Insurance plan for me and my family? What should I look for?   I want to buy Health Insurance for me, my wife and my kid. I live in Minnesota. I can spend about 0-0 monthly for Insurance. What all I should look for? It is so confusing. PPO, Deductibles, Coinsurance, and all these plans... I know only a little, and it is very hard making a choice. Please Help!
    • Insurance, of course, involves risk. If you are willing to spend 7200.00 a year for health insurance, you can get a pretty decent plan. First and foremost, go with a company you have heard of. Ask for proof they are an A rated company with AM Best. Your deductible is the amount you must pay before the policy pays for anything. Co-insurance, usually 80-20, means the insurance company pays for 80% of incurred medical expenses. You pay 20%. All plans have a maximum out of pocket you will have to pay before the plan pays 100%. PPO networks are doctors and hospitals that insurance companies have an agreement with to pay pre-negotiated rates. If you go outside the network, you'll still be covered, you won't get the same amount of coverage. DO NOT BUY AN HMO PLAN!!! Buying an individual plan, don't worry about Co-pays at the doctors office. This is an added expense to your premium and the additional premium is not worth it. Make sure your plan covers prescription drugs. There is usually a 500.00 deductible on name brand drugs Ultimately it is a decision you have to make based on risk. If you go to the doctor once a year, consider a high deductible plan(5000.00 - 10000.00). If, say cancer, runs in your family, consider a lower deductible(2500.00 - 500.00) Don't buy your plan to cover trips to the doctor!! Buy to CYA in case you or your family needs hospitalization.

  • Can anyone tell me how much they had to pay for the insulin pump with insurance?   I have United Health Care insurance Choice plan and I was considering the pump but, I'm curious as to how much approximatly I will have to pay. Help.
    • It all depends on ur med insurance mines was paid for in full so i didnt have to spend anything but im sure my med insur is not the same as urs so give them a call but u may need a prescription from ur doctor for one. If you do go on the pump i reccomend minimed. there website is they are very good come in colors too :)
    • It really depends on your policy. Some insurance pays for the pump in full, some require you to pay a co-percentage, say you pay 20%. If you have to meet a deductible first, you might have to pay the deductible and your co-percentage. when I got on the pump it cost me 00...but the company let me make very reasonable payments with no interest ( a month). I had met my deductible and my co-percentage was 20%. The pump itself was 00. Now they're more like 00. I have a friend whose insurance paid for the pump in full, didn't have to pay a cent. You can either call your insurance company and find out...but you might not get the right information, OR a better option is to call the pump company you're interested in. You can always back out at any time. These companies are well versed in dealing with insurance companies and know what the right questions to ask. They want you to get on the pump, obviously, so they're going to work hard at making it affordable. They will do all the work for you, calling your doctor, calling the insurance company and then letting you know up front how much you'll have to pay out of pocket. Find out not just about what your insurance pays for the pump itself but the supplies too. You'll be changing the infusion sets and reservors every few days. Plus there are other supplies you might need. Find out how much out of pocket, whether you need to meet deductibles, etc. The pump is great but without good coverage it can be very expensive, even unaffordable. There are a lot of people who do not follow the 2-3 day changing of infusion sets and reuse the reservoirs so they can afford the pump, even WITH insurance. Good luck.
  • How do I deal with this Lonliness ?   I'm a single parent at 22 , not by my choice . My boyfriend got deported .There isn't anything I can do to bring him back. He caused a lot of problems with my family and friends. They don't come around or when they do they criticize me. I have friends that go out and drink and party and they act like I still can , but I can't I have NO one to watch my son . I know my mom won't. I have $$$$ but no job . I sit here ALL day . I have NO motivation . I find myself jealous of my friends who can still go out . I have no health insurance , I can't see a mental health professional . What can I do ?
    • you have $$$$, but have no way of hiring a baby sitter, or putting your kid into daycare? I am sure daycare or babysitters aren't THAT expensive. You NEED a job, to take care of your son! You also need some sort of sanity time for yourself, to go out with friends, to act like a normal person. It's almost like you are in jail. You can't put yourself under arrest everday of your life, you'll go stir crazy!! You MUST get some daycare, for your sanity, and more importantly, YOUR SON!! good luck!
    • im also 22 and lonely by choice. I have no job nor no money. Instead of moving out of my parents house, they moved out and left me here. Im late on my taxes. I have a car title in my name but dont know where the car is. I have 2000 in hospital bills. I sit here all day cause ive tried getting a job but nobody will hire me. So i play video games for about 10 hours a day and watch my life rot away while bitchin at the computer for lagging. I WATCH HGTV FOR ENTERTAINMENT!!!!! If thats not bad, i don't know what is.
