Catastrophic Health Insurance Make sure that you know specifically what coverage you
are giving up before enrolling in a low cost health insurance
plan. As long as a plan is fully insured and the agent is also
licensed and insured, then it is OK to save money by choosing a
plan that eliminates coverage that you do not need. For example,
if you don’t need maternity coverage or pre-existing condition
coverage, then it is safe to buy a plan that costs only half as
much as a health plan that does include this coverage. Novak emphasizes that these buying guidelines apply to residents
of all states, not just Connecticut. - ...do I find free or low-cost counseling for a friend who ... My friend is in a verbally/emotionally abusive relationship. She is afraid to leave her husband and has self-esteem issues. I want her to see a counselor/therapist in our area (Houston, TX), but I don't know where to go. I also need to find someone who does work for low-income clients because she has no health insurance.
- i dont know sorry
- I*ve been thou it all and this advice is free because I will tell you what I know.....Generally, one does that to another human being because they wish to elevate their ownself...even thou it is a false sense...... The counsel will say that if one loses oneself in this relationship it may require anti-depressants and after one is better again the counselor can not tell you to leave this person, but know this...don*t lose your self again!
- a story about a martians view of the USA what do you think..? ... also learned that human well being matters to health and to earnings as well. Healthier people are happier, but happier people are also healthier and more likely to earn more money in the future. Yet happiness matters more to future income for those with less income, while money matters more to future income (and happiness) to those with more money. "Aha," thought the Martian again. "Maybe they are giving tax cuts to the rich and increasing inequality because money seems to matter more to them."
...learned that countries with more inequality have lower life expectancies, and that citizens in more equal societies, like Sweden, live longer. A recent National Academy of Sciences study finds that the inadequate medical care received by the uninsured in the United States translates into a poorer quality of life and a shorter lifespan. The study calculated the "hidden costs" of lack of insurance in terms of lost wages and benefits and in the value of what would...
- From reading this question I can assume you are in college. It is amazing, they gave us the exact same story about 15 years ago. Academics absolutely love Sweden.
I will not poke holes in their story I will just tell you; please think for yourself.
- the last martian I talked to said it was surveying earth to see where it could get the best meal from
it was prospecting future food chain for its pals
- Lack of insurance is causing the increase of these diseases? there was a news report on WNPR, CT about a study done by the Hispanic Health Council. The study concluded that the lack of health insurance amongst the Hipanic population in CT is causing the rise of: cardio-vascular diseases, diabetes, sexually transmitted diseases, and many others. The director of the council went on to complain that the illegal immigrants are costing CT tremendous amount of money in health care. The low income hispanics should have universal health care. and at the end, this woman said that they wanted to ask the law makers and state government to help the Hispanic population to break the Language barrier so they can have better access to better health care.
I don't know about you, but I couldn't help but laugh at such intentionally false reasoning of a problem(what a cop-out, the Hispanics have the State Gov. to blame for their bad diet, their poor choice of sexual practice,ect...)
and yeah, like these latinos tried soo hard to learn English all these years.
this is for those who did or will call me a racist.
If seeing things the way they really are is being a racist, then I am happy to be one.
I am sure more bleeding hearts will slam me with worse names, but you know what,
bring it on!!!
Yes every one in this country after the indians is an immigrant, but there has never, ever a group of immigrants that has so blatantly abused, exhausted, and damaged the resources of this country like the illegal Hispanics for as long as they have.
- No it isn't. Lack of a healthy lifestyle is causing any increase in disease. Insurance does not promote a healthy lifestyle.
After typing my first 2 sentences, I actually read past the heading of your question. I guess we actually agree. What makes the Hispanic Health Council think PAYING for universal health care will cost CT less than what they pay now?
- The same thing is causing those diseases as are caused by the rest of the population.
Got a heart problem? Quit eating those Big Macs and start doing aerobics!
Diabetes can be genetic and sometimes even occur at birth, but the fastest growing majority of diabetes cases are caused by our eating habits, especially in children. So, once again, watch what you eat!
Don't want an STD? Don't have sex! Or, use a condom!
Whatever legal status or race you are if you start blaming other people for getting diseases which come from YOUR lifestyle choices, you have a problem. It is NOT the government's responsibility to make ANYONE eat correctly, exercise, and practice safe sex!!!!
And if you came here to live and work, perhaps it would have been wise to learn the language instead of griping that you can't get things done because no one here speaks the language of your home country!
