Managed care health insurance plans, mostly the HMO's, focus primarily on prevention, and people with these types of policies pay less for their coverage. The drawback is that you are limited to specific health care providers. Indemnity plans, also known as fee-for-service plans, will cost you more- but you are completely covered no matter what illness or accident might occur. Indemnity plans place an emphasis on patient choice, allowing you to choose where and when you are treated.

Most importantly, though he also receives low cost health insurance for himself, his wife, and child, something he does not have at his full-time job.           Make sure that you know specifically what coverage you are giving up before enrolling in a low cost health insurance plan. As long as a plan is fully insured and the agent is also licensed and insured, then it is OK to save money by choosing a plan that eliminates coverage that you do not need. For example, if you don’t need maternity coverage or pre-existing condition coverage, then it is safe to buy a plan that costs only half as much as a health plan that does include this coverage. Novak emphasizes that these buying guidelines apply to residents of all states, not just Connecticut.

  • Should the government "pay" for healthcare or should the government "provide" it?   payer= , the definition of a payer is the public or private organization that is responsible for payment for health care expenses. Payers may be insurance companies or self-insured employers. provider= The definition of a provider usually refers to a hospital or doctor who "provides" care. It does not include a managed healthcare company or an insurance carrier.
    • This reflects the socialism democrats have been trying to establish for many years. When the inefficient doctors are weeded out and their malpractice insurance rates drop, health care will be much more affordable. One only needs to look at the countries having socialized or government paid health insurance, to see how unhappy many of them are. In answer to your specific question... neither
    • Either way it will be expensive and low quality. There is simply no substitute for competition. What we need to do is reduce the costs of healthcare. Limit tort, and get the government completely out of it.
  • we are kinda strapped for cash right now, and my daughter-in-law?   just had a new baby. they asked me to come there to help out with the two yr. old. the new baby is a month early, so is having a lot of health issues and may not even survive. I don't generally work outside of the home, but I have been able to work around the park for the cost of our rent and make a few extra dollars to help with the other bills or what ever. Now here is my problem. We have been planning on me going to help my sons family for the last 8 months, so i have been working my butt off and i have managed to make enough money to take care of decembers rent and pay for my trip both ways on a bus plus have a couple of hundrend to take with me. I am supposed to go this thursday. Now my husband has learned how much i made and tells me that my son should have to pay for the some of the bus fare, which we know that he can't really afford right now. My husband says that it isn't fair that i should be able to take my earnings and spend them on what ever i want because he can't spend his earnings the way that he wants to. He wants to get me a ticket one way and only give me one hundred dollars for spending. I feel like I should be able to do it the way that i have planned. what do you think.
    • Go see your grandchild. Just pay the bus fare yourself. Remmber the child should come first. Being a grandmother is a great thing you will forget about the money as soon as you see the baby.
    • well not bring the two yr old home with you than that way you and your hub and could spaced time with him
