It is wise to also solicit advice from a therapist or physician before buying a used electric wheelchair. Private health insurance and state vocational rehabilitation centers sometimes cover the cost of used electric wheelchairs. The Technical Assistance Project (TAP), supported by the federal Technology-Related Assistance for Individuals with Disabilities Act (Tech Act) of 1988, also provides financial support for the purchase of disability equipment. Sometimes, wheelchair vendors also provide guarantees and warranties for used wheelchairs. So how does long-term care insurance work? Long-term care
insurance is not health insurance, and long-term care
expenses are not covered under private health insurance,
Medicare or Medicare supplement policies. All states have established new programs that help lower income families with children to pay for health insurance for their kids. Financed partly by the federal government, the Children’s Health Insurance Programs (CHIP) operate either as an expansion of the state’s Medicaid program or a subsidy for basic private health insurance. Eligible families may be able to access coverage for their children at greatly reduced premiums which will vary depending upon family income. I have been quoted 00 for the hospital (day surgery under general) 0 for the anethiest, 00 for the dentists fee! Plus my dentures, which i am unsure of as yet. My dentist has told me that it will take him around an hour for the procedure, 1.5 hours at the most. He has told me it will be around 00 which should include my dentures.
Now tell me, I need to go under general as i am petrified! Do these costs seem right? I am based in australia by the way and it will be done at a private hospital, I want to make sure this is a fair price, i dont have Private Health Insurance either. Should the dentist be able to give me a full price, legally does he have too?
Anyone know anyone in melbourne a dentist who would do the work at a more reasonable price, ie, who has a cheaper hospital as this seems to be where the costs all are! i just felt it was a little too pricey thats all.
Oh i need the general just so you all know! i cant even walk past a dentist :) my teeth are really bad and this is the only way i can get the work done i cant explain my fear! I guess only those who are in the same predicament as me can :) I know this is the only way i will get it done as there is no way i would sit there in the chair even if i was sedated :) I have tried!! I wish the dentist was as much as a walk in the park for me as it is for others out there :)
- I practice in the UK and I don't know the money side of things but surely you don't need GA to have your teeth extracted, unless you are really, really nervous about it, cant bear the sight of blood, or are a needle-phobic! I am sure you can get the whole thing cheaper if you go to a general practicioner. Forget hospitals. It is a simple procedure and you don't need to be hospitalised for a few extractions and a denture. Hope this helps.
- I know you are really scared, but that is a lot of money to have to pay. As you already know, it will be so much cheaper to have it done at the dental surgery. You can have IV sedation and you won't even know what is happening. After the procedure you won't remember anything at all. We do heaps of these extractions with IV at the surgery where I work. The oral surgeon is very skilled at what he does, that's all he does all day. It's usually very quick and you will be home resting up before you know it.
Good luck with everything. Hope it all turns out well.
- How much would it cost on average to get a private health insurance? How much would it cost approximately to get a private health inurance for an unemployed person with pre-existing condition (like Lupus or MS)?
- I sold health insurance and I doubt you could get private health insurance with those pre-existing conditions. However, have you checked out your state government to see if they have a program that allows coverage regardless of your health? In Colorado we have one and premium is around 0 per month for a family
- you can't get it with Lupus, MS, etc, because the insurance company would know that it would lose on you.
you've got to get a job with a company which includes non-exclusionary group insurance.
- Healthcare in China for expats? What is the healthcare system like in China? What would be the general prices of seeing a doctor (for a cold or something)?
How does private health insurance work?
(Mainly focusing on Beijing)
- In Shanghai there are worldlink hospitals with western doctors and it costs western prices.
I have insurance through my job for Chinese hospitals, but I have not been to the doctor.
It cost 60 RMB to get a peanut of out my sons nose at the emergency room.
It was about 200 RMB for my husband to remove a wisdom tooth.
I spent 500 RMB for new glasses.
200 RMB for contacts.

There are many many hospitals for expatriates in China, esp Beijing and Shanghai with prices ranging from USD 75.00 and up for consultation. Then you add the medicines, and whatever else is necessary to get u cured.
But there is one cheaper alternative, the Sino-Japanese hospital. asked to be taken to the foreigner's wing. The docs there speak relatively good english and consultation with the doc is like only USD 12 or even less.
Depends which hospital your insurance would cover. But United Family covers a wide range of policies.
